How do I update my kitchen on a modest budget?

Yes My kitchen is terrible and my God! Any ideas on how to make it look more modern, but with a budget? Your kitchen looks much better than mine when I redecorated. Refacing cabinets would not be too expensive. White paint booths would be a big mistake. As an alternative to the cabinets, you may want to put some gold leaf paint in the woods. Replace exhaust fan over the stove. I suggest you replace it with an excess of microwave range (Sears sells those) that will match the stove and also serves as a exhaust fan .. The Over-the-microwave oven would give much more space and reduce clutter on the counters. While Sears may want to look for a refrigerator to match the stove.
