please help !!!!!!? totally confused girl

my dad is very difficult to shop for Christmas. However, I found something you need. But other things totally clueless on everything that has to do with the tools and hardware, and anything that might involve Lowes or Home Depot. I have to find a door hinge. I do not know anything about the door hinges. Our currently covered with doors that open in my dad built the ship and everything is like, his pride and joy. I'ts great and he did an awesome job, not weak or anything. but loses much space, because the revolving door in, because they have hinges that were big enough. He has been waiting to go for large hinges Tho. I know that the door is 2 inches wide. The thingy under the door has to go is 5 inches wide. But the first 2 inches can not be screwed into. I do not know what, but can not. so what in the world am I supposed to ask the poor people at Lowe's for: Please, please help me) !!!!!!

its It is best to go with a measuring tape and make a note of labeling everything as specfic as possible. explain exactly what you need. usually going to be complacent. if not see if you know someone in your neighborhood who can take a look?
