How much to fix a door latch on a Ford Explorer 1994?

I have a broken bolt (I think). I have to push the door latch to close the driver's side door. I discovered the hard way that my door latch broke when I tried to close it, and I would not. What exactly is broken? A spring? The closure of itself? How much to fix?

You can start by doing this ... you probably need to buy a new closure. I like to try a junkyard, you can have a good working condition. will to take the hinges off, take the door off, and unscrew the panel. remove the current shutdown (remember how they came out) and put the new one, then put the door back together. or probably be able to find in a junkyard, and you probably will not have to take the front door. Assuming that is the part where door (and not under the car), you need to take the inside panel off. You can then note that the closure is accessible by screws in the door edge or inside the shell door. Take those off *, and delete connections from the interior door release (the lever that opens the door) and the locking mechanism (the button that closes the door), and the exterior door handle and lock cylinder (where the key is inserted). [Forgive me if you think I'm talking to you, I'm trying to be comprehensive.] An electrical connection may be left for you to unwind. Do that, and the old latch must be able to be removed from the shell door, and the new / used one must go the way the old man came off. * If the door latch is set - like the door handle - can have a bodyman do this work.
