Are lever door pulls nice on bedroom doors?

I am replacing all the doorknobs in my house, and I like the look of the oil rubbed bronze levers instead of a traditional round knob. I've seen these on closet doors and french doors to the outside, but are they also nice for bathrooms and bedroom doors?

They are nice but however over time from people reaching out to grab the lever their nails tend to nick the wood behind the lever. After time the wood behind the lever has a bunch of little nicks in it. I have levers on all my doors and they all have nicks from nails behind them. At first I got upset at my wife and daughters because of their nails but as I payed close attention when I was rushing even My nails wood hit the wood.
