Front Door Knob
Searching for name of piece to front door knob... HELP!?
My front door knob to my home came off (the inside knob). The piece that you push in to remove the knob is nowhere to be found. Does anyone know what the name of this piece is so that I can search for a replacement? I hate to have to purchase a brand new door knob when there is nothing wrong with it! Thanks!
OR... You could simply run a short, small self - tapping screw into it going through the two matching slots where the release pin and/or spring use to be... ; )

Front door latch to house wont turn, but door knob will and the door is shut, what do i do?
my daughter slammed the front door and now the door wont open. i bought a new door knob, but when i remove the knob i dont know how to get the latch out since the door is shut. can someone please tell me how to get the latch out so i cant replace the knob? thanks!
The latch should be visible through the now empty hole. If it is just barely inside the larger hole, simply reach in with any sort of tool, needle nose pliers, a screwdriver, whatever, and try to pull whatever parts are showing in toward the hole. If you see the latch assembly almost all the way to the other side of the hole, then there should be a hole IN that type with a half round just about dead center in the hole. If that is the one, then put a large screwdriver into it and turn against the half round and it should release the catch. Those are the two most common ones.
