The ABS (antilock braking system)
ABS. Super easy, right? It is also known as CAB (Controller Anti-lock brakes). Are installed on the vehicle wheels so it is not blocked while braking hard. The idea of ABS is to provide better handling of your car and to reduce braking distance when you're on dry or slippery surfaces.
These systems not only come in cars, but around 1920, 1950, arrived in the planes! It's a bit confusing to explain, so I'll just give you the basics ... type: There is something with the drum and the wheel and the two things that spin at a time, and then there is less brake fluid so there was less pressure in the cylinder so it can release the brakes at the facility. It is still used in today's aircraft, but a more "Improved" and the updated version.
In late 1950, did an experiment on motorcycles and decided that the ABS would be a great benefit to all riders. Therefore, the stopping distance of these vehicles had fallen by half, especially on slippery surfaces. Since it was still considering that "new technologies", many people said it was too expensive, inconsistent, and obviously do not really need something in your car.
Chrysler more or less studied the situation and said: "We want to improve this and include it in our vehicles," so that is exactly what they did. In 1971, ABS was incorporated in the Chrysler Imperial and called "Safe brake." That same year, General Motors makes a rear wheel ABS only called the "Trackmaster" which was included in all rear wheel drive Cadillac had. Then, in 1975, someone took over a company and launched the first electronically controlled four Multichannel wheel ABS that would be available in the trucks and Mercedes S class wheels. This system was considered "modern" because it applies brake pressure to all four wheels.
You're probably thinking, "Enough about history?! how it works "Well do not worry, I'm about to reach that average has an ABS electronic control unit, one for each wheel and two hydraulic valves found. in the hydraulic brake system. Now, there's something out there called the electronic stability control is the "next generation" of the APB. With this particular system, there is a steering wheel angle sensor and a thing called a gyroscopic sensor. The way it works is quite simple: When the gyro sensor sees that something is not normal when the vehicle is in motion, the ESC then apply the brakes on the wheels that need it at once, so then, the vehicle is driven in the way that the driver wants to drive.
So I guess you could say they are quite important and critical because they are built to help the wheels and tires are the things that make your car move so you can get where you gotta go ... Right?
